I have a 24′ gaff rigged cutter. It is a kit boat designed and supplied by Derek Ellard from Scruffie Marine in Mount Tambourine in Queensland. The kit was built to hull stage by his son, Chris, then located in Sydney. I took delivery and completed the fit out and have been fiddling with it ever since.

Jan 2002 – Build under way
Starting to look less wonky.

The 9mm thick marine ply sheets locked and glued make for a very strong but lightweight boat.

April 2002 – cladding the hull.

June 2002 – Hull painted.

July 2002 – hull turned.

Cabin taking shape.

The teak decking

Teak planks were steam bent into shape.

October 2002 – Deck looking great.

Dec 2002 – Chris says goodbye to his labour of love.
